Knights extend lead

A five-wicket haul from Graeme Aldridge could not stop State Otago Volts avoiding the follow-on at Seddon Park, Hamilton.

Aldridge helped State Championship leaders Northern Knights claim first-innings points, but Otago’s Aaron Redmond (121) and Neil Broom (101) led the Volts to 408 for eight.

A declaration put the Knights back at the crease, and they extended their lead by 47 for three when bad light ended a day’s play delayed by rain.

ND hold a lead of 162, leaving the match well poised with a day to play.
