Kane Williamson will depart the BLACKCAPS squad today to allow a minor shoulder injury to fully recover.
Williamson’s injury occurred while diving in the field during the BLACKCAPS first Test against Sri Lanka at Hagley Oval. Coach Mike Hesson said that while they had successfully managed the injury during the second Test and opening One Day International, now was the right time for Williamson to recover.
“Kane is obviously a very important player for us and we need to give his shoulder the time to fully recover,” said Hesson.
“He’s played a lot of cricket of late and this window will allow him to get back to 100%.”
The BLACKCAPS play their next ANZ ODI against Sri Lanka on Thursday in Hamilton.
