INTERVIEW: Tim McIntosh

Tim McIntosh
The BLACKCAPS batsman talks about the pitch at the Basin, his preparation and the mood of the squad.

On the Basin Reserve pitch…

“It’s always been a pretty good wicket here, a bit of bounce and a bit of pace so it should be good to bat on.”

On the pressure being placed on the top order…

“I think it comes back to how well we prepare for it and if we think back to how well we did against Bangladesh and our last two Test wins, if we can continue that fashion I think it puts us in good stead.”

On his personal preparation for the upcoming Tests…

“I’m ticking boxes of where I want to be at, I have been scoring some runs so things are going well.”

On the feeling in the team going into the Tests…

“Coming from the One-Day competition, it’s nice to win that last one. Obviously the Series wasn’t ours but to win in the last game was really pleasing for the guys and going back into Test cricket its exciting. We have shown that we achieved a Test win against Bangladesh in the last game, we will be confident going into that for sure.”

On his thoughts of the Australian team…

“I have seen a bit of them over the Summer, I have been watching a few of their clashes over the ditch and sure they have got a good line up. It’s going to be a challenge and its something that we are both looking forward to very much.”

On how you prepare and gain confidence to face the Australians…

“You have got to hit the ground running. If you look at what they have got to offer in two left armers and two right armers I guess is what I’m thinking they might do. You can prepare in that way and also with your own game you want to be confident in your plans and basically sticking to your plan and what works best. That’s how I think we are all going to go about it.”
