The BLACKCAPS batsman talks about taking his first Test wicket, his potential as a bowler and what they need to do to win the match.
On the circumstances that led to him bowling today…
“We needed to fill in an over because Chris wanted to come from the other end and I got a wicket so kept going.”
On when he found out he would be bowling…
“About five minutes before I went out.”
On how he felt bowling…
“I had a couple of overs last night and was little bit nervous there but once I got the first couple out of the way I was alright and managed to get a wicket so I was pretty happy. I’m pretty stoked to get two wickets in Test cricket so I am really happy.”
On winning the Test…
“We definitely can. They are one hundred ahead, put another couple of wickets on it and they are right up in the pump.”
On getting the wickets today…
“They batted very well but we bowled well as well. They just counteracted with good batting. We pick up a couple of early ones tomorrow and we will be right back in it.”
On his potential as a bowler…
“That first class wicket, there was nothing going on in the game and Richard Jones told me I was bowling after tea and I managed to get a wicket on the third ball, Jeetan Patel. I was just bowling medium and it was just one of those things. I have bowled in a couple of One-Dayers and Dan reckons I will end up with 50 One-Day wickets so I will just keep working at it in the nets and hopefully play a part in a few games.”
On the weather today…
“It’s always annoying stop start stop start but that’s the way cricket goes sometimes you just have to deal with it.”
