The BLACKCAPS historic Test victory against Australia in Hobart has continued to reap praise by being nominated for New Zealand’s Favourite Sporting Moment in the 2011 Halberg Awards.
It was the team’s first win across the ditch since 1985 and happened in suitably dramatic fashion.
Australia required just 82 runs to win with five wickets in hand during the final day of the Test, but thanks to a scintillating six wicket haul from young quick Doug Bracewell the BLACKCAPS completed one of the greatest upsets in cricket history to secure a momentous seven run win.
It will be competing against five other sporting success stories from the year, such as Valerie Adam’s win at the Shot Put World Championships, the New Zealand Breakers becoming champions of the Australian NBL and of course the All Blacks Rugby World Cup victory.
For New Zealand cricket fans the BLACKCAPS win was one of the happiest days in the sports history and now you can relive the magical moment and help see it immortalised by voting for it at http://www.skysport.co.nz/sportingmoment/.
