Heel injury rules Milne out, ICC approves squad change.

Henry replaces Milne in World Cup squad

BLACKCAPS fast bowler Adam Milne has been ruled out of the remainder of the ICC Cricket World Cup after suffering an injury to his left heel. He has been replaced in the squad by Matt Henry, after ICC approval.

BLACKCAPS coach Mike Hesson says the injury has built up over time and is serious enough to warrant the replacement.

"It's serious enough to rule him out of the tournament from a playing perspective, so we've still got more test to see do in terms of the extent of it, but we're thinking more weeks rather than longer than that.

"It's one of those injuries probably for two weeks he's had issues with it, but he was pain-free come the quarterfinal and got through that okay, but post-quarterfinal it's flared up to a point where, as I said, it's unsustainable," said Hesson.

Milne felt discomfort following the quarter-final against the West Indies on Sunday and subsequently underwent an MRI scan on Sunday afternoon. The results showed significant swelling around the region and he will not be fit to play any further part in the tournament. A timeline for his return is not yet known.

"Adam got told this morning. We looked at different options, but it just wasn't going to work. Obviously a lot of disappointment. It's a once in a lifetime -- well, hopefully it's not a once in a lifetime opportunity for Adam, but look, he's gutted and all the players are gutted for him," said Hesson.
