Today’s 50-over warm up match between the BLACKCAPS and BCB XI at Bangladesh Krira Shikka Protisthan Stadium (BKSP) has been called off.
Speaking a short time ago from Bangladesh, BLACKCAPS Manager Michael Sharpe said: “The region has been hit with 15 days of heavy rain and the outfield is completely sodden.
“Groundsmen had the super sopper out but could only go a few metres before it needed emptying.
“The officials had no choice but to call off the match with the match on Sunday 3 October also in doubt.”
BKSP stadium is two hours from Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka where the five One-Day Internationals will be played.
Conditions and facilities in Dhaka are much better and the BLACKCAPS have been able to complete full practice sessions.
