New Zealand Cricket medical staff today announced that Hamish Bennett is unlikely to be available for selection for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe due to a back injury.
Speaking on behalf of the high performance team John Buchanan said: “Hamish complained of soreness in his lower back that intensified following training.
“He had undertaken scans and the medical team have ruled out serious pathological injures such as a stress fracture.
“I believe that with a thorough rehabilitation program Hamish will be able to return to cricket some time soon but unfortunately he is unlikely to recover in time for the BLACKCAPS tour of Zimbabwe.”
New Zealand Cricket medical staff will provide ongoing assessment and treatment with Bennett expected to be available for selection for the BLACKCAPS tour of Australia later in the year.
