The WHITE FERNS are winging their way to the UK for six weeks of intense cricket.

Going North

The WHITE FERNS have unfinished business in the UK as they return to the scene of their 2017 ICC Women's World Cup exit.

The 15-player squad departs for the North this week, where they will play Ireland at home before heading to England for a T20 Tri-Series which will be followed by a three-game ODI series against the World Champion hosts.

All-rounder Anna Peterson, who stared in the home summer sweep of the West Indies, said the team has plenty of motivation for this important tour.

"It's a great opportunity for the WHITE FERNS to perform on the big stage again and test ourselves against different opposition in varying conditions," she said.

"I'm pumped to go back to Ireland in particular. I played a season in Dublin at YMCA, so going back there will be pretty awesome.

"It's also fair to say the team is pretty keen to get back to England and right a few wrongs from the World Cup."

The mid-tour T20 Tri-Series, which will also feature South Africa, takes on increased importance with the ICC World T20 looming large in the Carribean in November.

"The world tournaments always take on extra significance and we've certainly had one eye on this one.

"We've been playing some good T20 cricket of late and with the make-up of our side - I feel like we're a really good shot at going close in the West Indies.

"The Tri-Series in England should provide a great preparation as we play plenty of tough knock-out cricket against two good sides."

With several senior WHITE FERNS already in the UK following the inaugural women's IPL Exhibition match in India, the remainder of the side flies across three days this week.

Watch out for...
Captain Suzie Bates is just 26 runs away from surpassing the great Debbie Hockley as the WHITE FERNS all-time ODI leading run scorer. Hockley has 4.066 to her name, Bates 4,041 and Amy Satterthwaite is third on the ladder with 3,317.
