Gillette Cup Finals: Day 3

Christchurch Boys' High School and King’s College will contest for the 2006 Gillette Cup title after winning their final pool games.

King's College completed their pool play with a nine-wicket defeat of joint-holders Tauranga Boys' College to progress.

Tim Southee and leg-spinner William Brittain secured four wickets each to dismiss Tauranga for 88.

King's made short work of the chase scoring the required runs in 134 overs to win handsomely by nine wickets. Chief run makers were Jonathan Noakes (48) and Angus McLean (24no).

Christchurch overcame Palmerston North Boys' High School despite another half-century from prolific batsman Chad Law helping his team to 202 for seven.

But Sam Noster posted an excellent 96*, combining in partnerships of 89 with Brendon McFarlane (35) and 94 unbroken with Corey Anderson (49*) to help their side home.

Otago Boys’ High and St Patrick’s College completed their round-robin schedules with victories.

Charlie Hendry’s 88 helped Otago set 220/9 against Rathkeale, despite Dean van Deventer’s 4/30.

Rathkeale made a valiant attempt to chase down the runs being all out for 210 in the final over of the match.

St Pats defeated Hamilton Boys' High School versus St Patrick's College by five runs, with a productive sixth-wicket stand between David Houghton (71no) and Sam Outtrim (31) helping them reach 178.

Hamilton BHS chased well but was dismissed in the final over for 173, Captain Bradley Perrett leading with 45, and Izac McKillop assisting with 43.
