Hutt International Boys’ School (B Wilson 52, J Gaskin 42, W Spice 3-16, L Bailey 3-30) beat Mount Albert Grammar School 148/10 (D Patel 51, R Krige 35, H Wills 1-16), Lincoln Green

Hutt International Boys’ have bounced back strong on day three of tournament, claiming a 7-wicket win against Mount Albert Grammar.

Bowling first, HIBS enjoyed a dream start with captain Lachie Bailey stiking twice in the first over. MAGS captain Dhruv Patel (51) fought back well with his first half-century of tournament but lacked support – no.7 batsman Ryan Krige (35) the next best for the Aucklanders.

HIBS managed to keep the total down to just 148 runs thanks to the spin bowling duo of Will Spice (3-16) and captain Bailey (3-30), who took the first two, and final two wickets of the innings.

The HIBS innings got off to a positive start thanks to opening batsman Ben Wilson (52) and no.3 batsman Jack Gaskin (44*), seeing the team through to 81 runs before Wilson’s departure. Gaskin continued his way with support from the middle order, eventually seeing their team home in the 29th over.

Tauranga Boys College 297/6 (B Syme 107, L Murray 57, D Collett 4-28, L Keaney 3-55) beat Otago Boys High School (Z Cumming 63, S Kyle 50, Z Cumming 4-51), Bert Sutcliffe Oval

Tauranga Boys’ and Otago Boys’ matched up on the Bert Sutcliffe Oval today, with both sides sitting on a win and a loss.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, TBC openers Seb Heath (52) and Logan Murray (27), validated the decision by putting on 110 runs for the first wicket. Zac Cumming’s (4-51) leg-spin proving important for OBHS – breaking the partnership and going on to take 4 wickets.

Middle order batsmen Billy Syme (107*) and Sam Clode (49) pushed forward, Syme batting the innings to record the sixth century of the Gillette Cup, and take his team to a very competitive 297/6.

In reply, Otago Boys’ got themselves in a position to chase down the big total – largely thanks to captain Seb Kyle (50) and yesterday’s hero Zac Cumming (63). The pair putting on 100+ runs before the loss of Kyle.

Middle order batsmen Thomas O’Connor (37) and Lewis Garden (32) looked to build on the platform laid before them, until TBC captain, Darcy Collett (4-28), took 3 wickets in an over – all but sealing the win for his side.

TBC eventually claiming a 45-run win with less than four overs remaining.

Christ’s College 265/5 (T Seeto 107, O Shore 81, B Breitmeyer 4-59, T Harrison 2-23) beat Napier Boys’ High School (T Hall 44*, A Rawnsley 44, O Beale 3-54), Lincoln Green

Two of the Gillette Cup’s form teams met on Lincoln No.3, and the match did not disappoint. Christ’s College elected to bat first – initially looking in trouble as they lost one opener and the in-form Nick Gibb early.

Opener Tim Seeto (107*) and Ollie Shore (81) showed patience early, before cashing in during the middle overs. Their partnership of 149 runs proving vital to CC’s chances. Seeto continued his fine form from Tuesday’s record knock, seeing his team through to 265/5 off their 50 overs.

Napier captain, Oliver Beale (3-50), proving the most effective option for NBHS with three key wickets.

Napier’s top three of Charlie Pawson (34), Andrew Rawnsley (33) and J Cotter (31) got the chase off to a positive start, all notching up scores of 30+. The middle order continued to chase the game, led by Thomas Hall (44*) who kept his team in the hunt right until the end.

A Tim Seeto run out shifted the momentum back Christ’s way, who proceeded to take four quick wickets and two run outs. CC eventually claiming a close victory by 25 runs.
