James Franklin has been withdrawn from the BLACKCAPS squad for the forthcoming One-Day International series in South Africa and the Chappell-Hadlee Series in Australia.
Franklin will have surgery on his injured right knee later this month. A replacement will be named later this week.
"There’s never a good time to pick up an injury, but for this to flare up after six months out of cricket is frustrating," said the all-rounder.
“The surgery means that I’ll have more time out of the game, which is a disappointment. After that, I will focus on rehabilitation and getting back to cricket and full fitness.”
