BLACKCAP all-rounder James Franklin top scored for the Mumbai Indians as they beat the Daniel Vettori captained Bangalore Royal Challengers in the final of the Champions League Twenty20.
Mumbai won the toss and chose to bat and were battling a bit at 24 for two before Franklin came to the crease. The powerful left-hander struck an outstanding 41 off 29 to help his team to a respectable total of 139.
Vettori turned in a useful performance taking two for 30 while Raju Bhatkal picked up three for 21.
Harbhajan Singh was outstanding in defence of the total taking three for 20 with pace bowlers Lasith Malinga and Abu Nechim taking two apiece.
Tillakaratne Dilshan’s 27 was the only score of note as they fell 31 runs short of the target.
Franklin will join the BLACKCAPS in Zimbabwe for the Twenty20 and ODI series while Vettori will return home before heading to Zimbabwe for the one off Test later this month.
