BLACKCAPS Test captain Stephen Fleming has been named Wellington Sportsman of the Year for 2007.
The veteran left-hander, who plays his provincial cricket with State Wellington Firebirds, led the BLACKCAPS to the ICC World Cup and Champions Trophy semi-finals, and a clean sweep over Australia in the Chappell-Hadlee series before resigning as one-day captain.
Golfer Lynnette Brooky took the overall award, Radio Sport Wellington Sportsperson of the Year.
