England's tour of India begins on Saturday with the tourists looking to adapt their batting quickly in a three-day match against Mumbai.
Adaptation should not be too difficult as the last cricket the English played was in Pakistan late last year.
It was on that tour that the batsmen were guilty of batting too quickly for the conditions and contributing significantly to the series defeat by Pakistan.
Andrew Flintoff told BBC Sport: "We're an aggressive side but I think it's a case of reining ourselves in a little bit.
"I'm still going to be aggressive but it's a case of sitting in a bit more and being more patient."
All members of the team will have a chance to play at some stage of the game against the Cricket Club of India.
Under a cloud, however, is spinner Shaun Udal, who has a left-side strain. Opener Marcus Trescothick didn't train on Friday as he was unwell. On the credit side, Matthew Hoggard trained and showed he had recovered from a stomach bug suffered earlier in the week.
The team is also undertaking a trial of a style of contact lenses which are believed to enhance sight in bright light.
A team spokesman said, "The lenses don't restrict a player's peripheral vision like glasses do and don't get steamed up or covered in sweat."
