England A ended their cricket tour of New Zealand without success following an 84-run loss to New Zealand A in a Twenty20 match at New Plymouth today.
The tourists were beaten into submission by an unbeaten 88 from Canterbury's Shanan Stewart, who faced just 39 balls during New Zealand A's 227 for six.
In response England A were on the back foot from the moment openers Joe Denly and Robert Key were run out cheaply, eventually dismissed for 143 in the 17th over.
The only resistance came from Samit Patel, who struck 64 off 36 balls, including five sixes.
However, even he couldn't match the power-hitting of Stewart, who clattered the short Pukekura Park boundaries with six fours and seven sixes.
Gareth Hopkins hammered a late 41 from just 18 balls while Ewen Thompson was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers with three for 23 off four overs.
England A's two four-day matches were drawn while New Zealand A won the one-day series 2-0.
