Diary entry 3
I am writing this entry while lying in the sun on the beach. It is 9am and probably 30 degrees already. One good thing is all the little huts along the beach so shade is easy to find.
Unfortunately, we are easy targets for the locals so a nice relaxing morning sunbathing on the beach involves being asked every five minutes if we want to get a massage, our hair braided or buy some local CDs. Kate (Broadmore) took up the offer though and is getting her hair done at the moment.
Today is our first day off. I think a few players are making the most of not having a morning fitness session as I haven’t seen many of the team about. The ones keen to make the most of our time here have left already to catch the ferry to Nevis then do a bus tour around the island. A few of us have just been snorkelling. This is the first time I’ve had a go and it was amazing. Just like the move Finding Nemo - bright coloured fish everywhere! Wish I had an underwater camera.
It’s nice to know we have qualified for the semis with a game in hand. There have been good individual performances at times but we still have areas to work on so this will be a focus against Pakistan tomorrow. We want to have a polished performance, maintain high standards and finish top of our pool before heading to St Lucia to take on the Windies.
It’s our first morning game tomorrow so it’ll be an early one tonight. This means no group fitness which is a bonus but also no sleep in which is not!!
Cheers,
Macca
