As the summer season of cricket winds down with the conclusion of international and first-class cricket, many eyes are now turning indoor for the opportunity to continue cricket through the winter at an Action Indoor Sports centre.
New Zealand Cricket recently announced a commercial partnership with Action Indoor Sports – the country’s largest indoor cricket network. The new relationship makes cricket an integrated, year-round sporting activity with a total of close to 200,000 players
National Development Manager, Mark Lane, described the opportunity for cricketers of all ages and skill levels to continue their engagement with the game through winter as an important development.
“Increasingly the skill-sets required in traditional and indoor cricket are very similar,” he said.
“The chance for young cricketers, in particular, to continue to develop tight bowling lines, sharp close-in fielding, and dynamic, creative batting skills through indoor cricket action will serve them well throughout the year.”
Lane encouraged traditional summer cricketers to consider the challenges of entering a team in a local indoor competition organised by Action Stadiums nationwide.
