Countdown on for the Day-Night Test

There’s just a week to go until New Zealand’s first ever Day-Night Test!

Who? BLACKCAPS v England

When? Thursday March 22 – Monday March 26.
Where? Eden Park, Auckland

Why rock up?
Be part of something new. New Zealand have played 424 Test matches before this one, but never under lights in their own backyard. Eden Park has been the scene of some of the most important moments in our history from our first Test win in 1956 to the BLACKCAPS first ever World Cup semi-final triumph.

Now we get set to write another chapter at the ground with day-night cricket ushering in a new era for cricket in New Zealand.  Then there’s the timing. No-one needs a sick-note to attend this one. No need to wag school either. That’s right – we’re playing this Test at a time you can actually watch it. Innovative, eh?

Start time is 2pm, so farewell the lunch break and enjoy your dinner under the stars. The old rules are out the window. Organise your own team of family, friends, and/or co-workers, and make a night of it.

Play starts with a two-hour session from 2pm before a twenty minute break for Tea at 4pm.
The players then return to the field for another two-hour session from 4:20pm until breaking for Dinner at 6:20pm.

Check out all of the ticket options here.

The final session post the 40 minute Dinner break runs from 7pm to 9pm.

Every night is different. Experience cricket in a way you’ve never imagined, with night markets, family days; and a Sunday session. There’s even a networking (not working!) night for business types. And let’s not forget the Final Showdown on Day Five.

Find your night and enjoy!

Last thing, the small matter of the pink ball. You’ve heard of “white-ball” cricket; you’ve heard of “red-ball” cricket? Well, this ball’s a combination from both – designed specifically for your personal viewing pleasure.Day-Night Tests have also seen different and unusual tactics employed by sides as they attempt to adapt the unique quirks of the format. Keep your eyes on the match - it is a format that moves at pace!

So, let’s revisit the details: the first Day-Night Test to be played in New Zealand: at Eden Park; 2pm Thursday, March 22-Monday, March 26, between the BLACKCAPS and England.

Cricket like you’ve never seen before. A Test match. Under the Southern Cross. For the first time ever.

C'mon, join us on the dark side. You know you want to.
