Bond leaves Canterbury

Kirsty Bond has stood down as coach of the State Canterbury Magicians after four seasons in the position.

Canterbury director of coaching and Development Richard Hayward said: “I am disappointed that Kirsty will not be continuing as coach but understand fully that her work commitments as a school teacher take priority.

“Kirsty has done an outstanding job with the team. She has helped to develop many young players over the four years and has instilled in the squad a culture that is admired and envied by all other teams in the State League. Kirsty has the respect of all the players and her record is excellent.

The Magicians reached the final each year, winning the title this season and in 2004/5, sharing the title with Wellington in 2003/4, and losing to Central Districts last season.

“Kirsty will continue this season as assistant coach of the White Ferns ‘A’ team and has indicated that she may return to coaching some time in the future.” added Hayward.
