BLACKCAPS renew old rivalry

BLACKCAPS captain Stephen Fleming has warned Australia there will be no quarter given when his team meet Australia in their final ICC World Cup Super Eight Series match.

The Anzac nations meet again in Grenada overnight, with both assured a place in the final four of the tournament.

A rematch with Sri Lanka in Jamaica next week is likely to be the team’s semi-final assignment.

However, an emphatic BLACKCAPS win could wrestle top seeding from the world champions and dramatically alter the expected schedule.

With this in mind, Fleming said: "We'll go in with the best possible team - bar injury scares. If someone needs to be rested from an injury point of view we'll be cautious with that."

The Chappell-Hadlee Series win indicated the BLACKCAPS can pose a serrious threat to the world champions.

"We want to continue where we left off against Australia in New Zealand," added the captain. "They're a tough side if they get on top of you and they've got a point to prove.

"It's a great opportunity before the semi-finals start to maintain the standards we had against South Africa."

The BLACKCAPS are without Jacob Oram through a heel injury, but Michael Mason returned to full fitness, and Ross Taylor and Mark Gillespie are match fit again after seeing game time earlier in the round.

Oram's absence opens up a slot in the middle order which could be taken by James Franklin. Oram's bowling spot could be taken by Mason, Gillespie or Chris Martin, who has yet to feature at the World Cup.

Australia may recall all-rounder Shane Watson missed Australia's last three matches because of a calf injury but has targeted the game as a comeback.

Captain Ricky Ponting said: "I'm sure New Zealand will be in exactly the same boat as us, going into that game.

"They'll obviously want to beat us and we'll want to beat them. They've got a good record against us of late, having won the three games in New Zealand just before we came away."

"Along with us they've been the other form team of this whole tournament.

"Coming here, I thought Sri Lanka, South Africa and New Zealand would be the stand-out teams we needed to be wary of."
