The BLACKCAPS are recalibrating in Kolkata as they take stock of their perfect start to the ICC World Twenty20.
Kane Williamson’s men enjoyed a rare day off in the historic city after becoming the first side to qualify for the semi-finals, following their third straight victory of the tournament over Pakistan on Wednesday morning.
Most players snuck in a gym session while sights such as a local mall and golf course were graced by BLACKCAPS.
“It was good to get out and see some sights,” said keeper Luke Ronchi.
From dark horses to the most talked about runner in the field, the BLACKCAPS have flown into favourites to lift the trophy following their dominant start.
Any such talk is simply outside noise according to Ronchi..
"The mindset is the same as it has been the whole time - prepare well, play well and look to win.
"In Twenty20 cricket , things can be pretty fickle and a lot can change very quickly, so we're just looking to keep things going and build some momentum.
It's been reiterated throughout the tournament, but once again the team's focus is purely on their next task, which is a final group a pool match against Bangladesh on Sunday (11:30pm NZT).
"You can see Bangladesh are playing some good cricket and are going to be ready to go for Saturday.
"We're going to go into the match full steam ahead and hopefully go well and get the win."
Previous matches at Eden Gardens, which will also host the final, suggests another low and slow wicket for the BLACKCAPS to combat.
Bangladesh may well feel like their playing in home conditions, but the spin of Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi has challenged all opposition to date and they may well hold the key for the BLACKCAPS once again.
Victory would seal top spot in the group. Ronchi remained philosophical.
"It is what it is. If we end up top - fantastic."
The BLACKCAPS are keeping cool in India.
