Chennai Super Kings opening batsman Matthew Hayden smashed 65 off 43, helping his team to a formidable 179.  Ross Taylor could only manage 1 as the Bangalore Royal Challengers were rolled for 87 after 15.2 overs.  Murali Muralitharan was the main destroyer taking three for 11 of his four overs.

Brendon McCullum’s Kolkata Knight Riders completed a comfortable win over Kings XI Punjab, winning by 11 runs.  McCullum got his team off to a flyer chasing the revised target of 79, striking 21 off 16 but is was Chris Gayle who stole the show with 44 off 26.

Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist hit 71 off 45 balls as his team put on 184.  Scott Styris came in late and made a quick 14 off 8 balls.  The Bangalore Royal Challengers got off to the worst possible start with Jesse Ryder getting a duck and eventually fell 24 runs short.  Styris took three wickets including the prized scalps of Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid.
