The Kolkata Knight Riders were in trouble early when captain Brendon McCullum was dismissed by Kevin Pietersen off the first ball of the match.  Srivat Goswami got the Royal Challengers Bangalore team off to a soid start with 43 and they went on to reach their target of 140 with one ball to spare.

Batting first the Kings XI Punjab stuggled through to 119 with Kumar Sangakkara the only batsman to make a significant contribution with an unbeaten 45 off 44 balls.  The tournaments leading wicket-taker Lasith Malinga was in good form again taking two for 12 off his four overs. The small total proved to be enough as the Mumbai Indians fell three runs short, despite a great innings of 59 from JP Duminy.

A blistering 48 from 28 balls from Dwayne Smith helped power the Deccan Chargers to a total of 148.  It was not enough as Tillekeratne Dilshan guided the Delhi Daredevils to victory with an unbeaten 52 as they reached the total with eight balls to spare.

Form batsman Suresh Raina was in devastating touch once again hitting 98 off 55 as the Chennai Super Kings made 164.  It was too much for the Rajasthan Royals who were rolled for 126 in the final over.  Lakshmipathy Balaji was the pick of the Chennai bowlers taking four for 21 with Jacob Oram picking up two for 27.
