BLACKCAPS captain Daniel Vettori was the toast of the Delhi Daredevils in their 10 wicket win over the Kings XI Punjab. Vettori figures of three for 15 put the brakes on the scoring and left his team requiring only 105 for victory. Virender Sehwag led the way with 38 off 16 as the Daredevils were set a revised target or 54 runs in six overs.

Jesse Ryder and Ross Taylor both recorded ducks in their first match for the Bangalore Royal Chargers. That didn't affect the result though, as they comprehensively beat the Rajasthan Royals by 75 runs. Batting first the Royal Chargers reached 133 with Rahul Dravid crafting 66. They then went on to bundle out Rajasthan for 48 with Anil Kumble returning the incredible figures of five for five off four overs. Ryder contributed with a two for 14 off his four.

A fit Jacob Oram was on the losing side as the Chennai Super Kings lost to the Mumbai Indians by 19 runs. Batting first Mumbai made 165 largely thanks to a solid 59 off 49 from captain Sachin Tendulkar. The Super Kings were unable to keep up with the run-rate, ending up on 146 for seven. Matthew Hayden was the best with 44 but it was the bowling of Lasith Malinga that proved the difference. Malinga took three for 15 off his four overs. Kyle Mills didn't play in the match.

Singh took four for 22 in a man-of-the-match performance that saw Kolkata reduced to 101 all out. Scott Styris contributed with the wickets of two Australian batsmen Hodge and Henriques. The Deccan Chargers, who finished last season dead last, reached the target in 13.1 overs with Herschelle Gibbs making an unbeaten 43.
