Match Summary: An opening partnership of 116 between Subramaniam Badrinath and Faf du Plessis has set up the Chennai Super Kings for a 13 run win over the Pune Warriors. Having set Pune 165 to win, the Super Kings made early headway against the Warriors top-order, with Ryder being one victim for nine. Despite the middle and lower-order showing some resistance, Pune were unable to get on top of Chennai’s bowlers and eventually lost by 13 runs.

David Hussey top-scored with 41 to help Punjab reach 163 for six after 20 overs. Daniel Vettori was once again the most economical of the bowlers with a run-rate of just six per over. In reply Chris Gayle once again showed why he is considered one of the best in the league, smashing 87 off 56 balls. AB De Villiers also chipped in with 52, to assure Bangalore victory with three balls to spare.

Franklin cleared the boundary regularly at the start of the innings, but neither him nor his team mates could kick on during the last overs and had to settle for a total of 163 for six. Punjab were patient in their chase and it paid off, making the final runs with six wickets and three balls in hand. Shaun Marsh made an unbeaten 68 to lead Kings XI to victory.

Match Summary: The Deccan Chargers have once again failed to bring up their first win in the IPL, this time losing by five wickets to the Kolkata Knight Riders. Deccan could only manage to post a total of 126 for seven from their 20 overs and despite some good bowling, were unable to stop Kolkata from prevailing with six balls in hand. Brendon McCullum failed to have an impact making just 10, but an unbeaten 30 from Manoj Tiwary assured the Knight Riders their fourth victory of the competition and now sit in second on the points table.
