Match Summary: The Mumbai Indians got their 2012 IPL campaign off to a winning start, after a dominant display with the ball set up an easy eight wicket win. A team effort with the ball limited Chennai to just 112 all out from 19.5 overs. Richard Levi then got the Indians off to a great start with a fast paced 50, before Franklin (25*) and Ambati Raduyu (18*) sealed the win for Mumbai.
To be of note: Sachin Tendulkar retired hurt while batting in the second innings. Tendulkar hurt his finger and is expected to be out for the next couple of games at least.

However, it was BLACKCAPS team mate Daniel Vettori who was on the victorious side, as the Royal Cahllengers Bangalore won their first match of the competition by 20 runs. AB De Villiers set up the win with an unbeaten knock of 64, leading Bangalore to 157 for eight from their 20 overs. Delhi fell well short of the target and ended the innings at 137 for seven.
