BJ Watling to lead NZ XI against Somerset at Taunton.

BLACKCAPS England tour starts tonight

BJ Watling will take the captain's armband for the New Zealand XI against Somerset, while fans will get the chance to see a glimpse of the future, with tourists Jacob Duffy, Mitchell Santner and Ben Wheeler all lining up alongside established Test players like Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner and Mark Craig.

The match, the first in the tour, is set for four days and gets underway tonight at 10pm New Zealand time.

"It's a very proud moment," said Watling. "It's obviously a special achievement and I'm looking forward to it."

The four day match will be a chance for match practise in English conditions, with bowlers and batsmen taking on the Duke ball, that has potential for prodigious swing through the air for longer periods of time.

"It's been swinging, which is always good!" said Ben Wheeler. "It's a lot different to the Kookaburra, which I've used my whole life. It's a little bit of an adjustment, but when it's right it swings quite a bit, which is cool."
