Brownlie’s run a ball 116 not out was the stand out performance and along with Jamie How he set a solid platform with a 146 run second wicket stand.
When How departed for 60 with the score on 153 for two the big hitting middle order freed arms to accelerate the score.
Colin de Grandhomme (31 off 10) and Shanan Stewart (38 off 21) got things moving before Brendon Diamanti (41* off 12) pounded five sixes and a four to send the scoreboard rocketing forward as AIS went through eight bowlers in an attempt to stem the flow of runs.
Brownlie was happy to bat around the power hitters but still managed eight boundaries and three sixes himself.
The AIS reply never got moving with Nicolas Maddison’s 71 off 64 the only score of note.
Seamer Bradley Scott made an impact early on, ripping through the top order to snare the first four wickets and reduce the home team to 82 for four.
Nick Beard removed top scorer, Maddison, before mopping up the tail to finish with five for 31.
The New Zealand A team take on India no Monday 16 August and before their last round robin match against South Africa on Wednesday 18 August.
