Hamish Barton has resigned as Head Coach of New Zealand women’s cricket side, the White Ferns.
Barton, who is also the High Performance Manager for Netball Northern Zone, made the decision to resign due to the heavy time demands of both roles, including international travel with the White Ferns.
After a tough start to his tenure against the West Indies away, Barton recently led the side to victory against England in the ICC women’s Championship One Day international Series.
New Zealand Cricket Head of Cricket Lindsay Crocker says he is naturally disappointed, but understands Barton’s position.
“Having been involved in the women’s game for a number of years, Hamish brought a lot of knowledge to the group and we’re sorry to lose that,” says Crocker.
“Hamish has given a lot to the team, but dual roles are difficult to maintain. We wish him all the best for the future.
“We will now start to work through the appointment process for Hamish’s replacement.”
