Uncapped George Bailey has been named as Michael Clarke’s replacement in the Australian ODI squad for the remaining National Bank Chappell/Hadlee series.
Clarke returned to Australia earlier in the week, siting personal reasons for his early departure.
National Selection Panel (NSP) Chairman Andrew Hilditch said: “Due to Michael Clarke returning to Australia for personal reasons, the NSP has today added George Bailey to the one day squad.
“George is having an outstanding season in all forms of the game and richly deserves this opportunity to join the Australian squad . George is a talented and exciting batsman and we are confident if the opportunity arises he will perform well at international level for Australia."
Bailey, 27, has been a stand out performer for Tasmania and has taken over the captaincy from Dan Marsh the season.
