Bad Light Forces Early End to Third Day of Second Test

Bad light has forced a premature end to the third day of the second cricket test between New Zealand and the West Indies at McLean Park here today.

The West Indies were 62 for two in the second innings, to trail their hosts by two runs when the players left the field at 6.54pm with 14 overs still scheduled to be bowled in the final session.

West Indian captain Chris Gayle was unbeaten on 36 from 46 balls while Xavier Marshall was yet to score.

Sewnarine Chattergoon, who made 25, and Ramnaresh Sarwan, one, were the wickets to fall to spinners Jeetan Patel and Daniel Vettori.

Earlier, New Zealand were dismissed for 371 in reply to the tourists' first innings of 307.

Opener Tim McIntosh anchored the New Zealand innings with 136 from 337 balls, his maiden test century in just his third innings.

Fast bowler Fidel Edwards took a career-best seven for 87, his seventh five-wicket haul in tests.
