AMI Open day tomorrow

The Deans Stand at AMI Stadium is completed and this weekend you have an opportunity to experience the upgrade before people flock to the stadium for the first international fixture between the BLACKCAPS and Bangladesh on February 11.

Tomorrow New Zealand Cricket will be at the AMI Open Day between 10am and 4pm with activities and giveaways, celebrating the new look Deans Stand opening.

Entry is free to the open day and there is so much to see and do.  New Zealand cricket will have the National Bank inflatable activities, spot prizes including wrist bands and signed BLACKCAPS bats to give away along with indoor cricket specialists. Action Indoor Sports

Your favourite Canterbury Wizards including BLACKCAP Chris Martin will also be at the ground from 12pm signing autographs, showing off their skills and answering your questions, so come down and bowl a ball to your favourite Canterbury cricketer, ask them about their HRV Cup campaign and get your favourite piece of memorabilia signed.

Behind the scenes tours will also be happening and those at the open day will get to see things not open to the general public, from the players’ changing rooms to the corporate boxes.

Allen Garner from VBase, the company behind AMI Stadium said the purpose of the day was to welcome back the Canterbury public to AMI Stadium and to give Cantabrians a sneak peak at the new stand. “We want to thank everyone for their support during the redevelopment. This is a chance to get behind the scenes in the players’ tunnel and coaches box,” he said. “Plus you can meet sport stars at the Stadium.”
