The Australian Institute of Sport have comprehensively accounted for the New Zealand Emerging Players, beating them by 190 runs at Fred Kratzman Oval, Brisbane.
Batting first, Australia amassed a score of 300 for six - largely thanks to a blistering 125 by Steven Smith. Captain Rob Quiney was also among the runs hitting 58 with Matthew Wade making 61.
Tim Southee contributed two wicket but took a fair bit of stick late in the innings, leaking 74 runs in his ten overs. Neil Wagner and Tarun Nethula took one apiece.
New Zealand never looked like threatening the target of 301, losing regular wickets and were all out after 31 overs.
George Worker’s top scored with 32 with Peter Fulton next best with 12.
Nineteen year old left-armer James Faulkner was the pick of disciplined Australian attack taking three for four of five overs with Chris Duval, Peter George and Kane Richardson taking two each.
