Adams in winning form

Andre Adams continued his good form in the English county game but there was mixed fortunes for two former BLACKCAPS in One-Day action.

On the opening day of C&G Trophy matches, Adams played his part as Essex cruised to victory over Glamorgan, who will be joined by James Franklin after the BLACKCAPS Test tour of South Africa.

The State Auckland Aces all-rounder claimed two wickets but did not need to bat in a 10-wicket victory over the Welshmen at Chelmsford.

Ex-BLACKCAPS and Canterbury star Chris Cairns made 27 and took two wickets on his return to Nottinghamshire, but Worcestershire enjoyed a two-wicket win by Duckworth-Lewis method.

BLACKCAPS skipper Stephen Fleming returns to Trent Bridge after leading the team in the Republic.

Former State Central Stags batsman Craig Spearman played as Gloucestershire defeated Middlesex by six wickets after dismissing the Londoners for only 95.

Hamish Marshall also join Gloucestershire next month, with Scott Styris heading to Lord's but Shane Bond will not join Marshall after his knee injury on tour.
