Martin Guptill’s 90 was the highlight as the NZHPC Academy drew with a Canterbury XI at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval.
Guptill’s knock helped the Academy to a second innings total of 206 for three from 81 overs by stumps on the third and final day.
The Auckland batsman collected seven fours and four sixes before being caught by Sunnie Chan off the bowling of Iain Robertson.
Guptill recorded a 113-run stand with fellow opener Todd Astle, who also contributed a half-century. The Cantabrian scored 52 – including five boundaries - from 102 deliveries before being trapped lbw to Chris Harris.
BLACKCAPS stalwart Nathan Astle also struck 44.
Earlier, Canterbury took their overnight score to 366 all out, adding 90 for the last two wickets.
Tailenders Iain Robertson (48), BLACKCAPS spinner Paul Wiseman (43) and Brendon Donkers (19) all showed their prowess at the crease.
