On day two of the First XI Cup, Christchurch Boys’ HS, Napier Boys’ HS, and Westlake Boys’ HS each extended their winning streaks to two, solidifying their place as teams to watch in the competition.
Westlake Boys’ were able to contain Hutt International Boys’ to 150/10 thanks to a strong bowling and fielding effort.
Seamer Nishil Patel (3-20) was the best of the WBHS bowlers, well supported by his fielding comrades, who were able to pick up four catches, two run outs and a stumping.

Spin bowler Ollie Saunderson (4-49) picked up regular wickets to give his side a fighting chance, but Oliver Davies (30*) would eventually see Westlake home in the 33rd over.
On Lincoln no. 3, a Napier Boys’ spin attack, led by Sacha Pickering (4-21), combined to bowl Otago Boys’ out for 165 runs.
In response, the NBHS top three came out swinging, putting together two 80+ run partnerships to kill any chances of an OBHS comeback.
NBHS openers, Zach Forster (66 off 67) and Andrew Rawnsley (41 off 33) looked in fine touch, both striking at near a run-a-ball.

The best of those contributions was between Henry Rumball (75 off 73) and Harry O’Loughlin (63 off 55), who managed to tally 98 runs for the second wicket.
CBHS’ Hanroux Wessels (3-26) then led the charge with the ball – ripping through the top order, captain Callum Samson (4-14) finishing the job with a tight spell.
