White Ferns 221-8 (Rachel Priest 57, Sara McGlashan 25) beat the West Indies Women (Shemaine Campbelle 22, Felicity Leydon-Davis 5-18 ) by 107 runs
The White Ferns have rounded off their One Day International Series against the West Indies Women with a 107 run victory at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln, giving them a 3-0 series clean sweep.
Having opted to bat first, the White Ferns overcame a shaky start with the bat to post 221 for eight from their 50 overs, with Rachel Priest top-scoring with 57. In response the West Indies were dismissed for 114 after Felicity Leydon-Davis, on debut, took the best figures for a White Fern against the West Indies with five for 18 from 8.2 overs.
The home side made two changes from the first two ODIs, with Leydon-Davis coming in for Hayley Jensen and Maddy Green replacing Sophie Devine due to medical reasons.
The White Ferns top-order saw a number of valuable contributions made, but lacked a partnership of more than 50. While four players in the top six scored 20 or more, the White Ferns found themselves in a precarious position in the 34th over having been reduced to 124 for five.
Wicketkeeper Rachel Priest, coming off an unbeaten 40 in the second ODI, quickly swung the momentum back in the White Ferns favour though, clubbing seven fours and a six to bring up her maiden international half-century off 34 balls.
Her innings was backed up by late cameos from Morna Nielsen (13*) and Felicity Leydon Davis (10*), elevating the White Ferns to a competitive 200 plus total.
In reply the West Indies never really got going, with the White Ferns taking wickets in quick succession, led by 19-year-old Leydon-Davis.
Shemaine Campbelle (22) and Shanel Daley (20) put up the biggest resistance for the visitors, but the pressure never allowed them into the game and the White Ferns showed a ruthless streak with the ball.
Leydon-Davis was supported by two wickets from Nicola Browne and a pair of brilliant run-outs to Sara McGlashan, while Frances Mackay also took one scalp.
The two sides now turn their attention to a five match Twenty20 series and will head to Invercargill where they will play a double-header on Saturday and Sunday.
