Suzie Bates scored the first T20I century by a WHITE FERN as her side sent records tumbling in Taunton.

WHITE FERNS v South Africa, Game 1 - T20 Tri-Series, Taunton

Posted Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in International News

The opening day of the T20 Tri-Series in England will not be quickly forgotten.

Suzie Bates struck the first T20 International century by a WHITE FERN as her side amassed a new women's T20I world-record of 216-1 against South Africa in the opening match.

A little over fours hours later the WHITE FERNS record was smashed by England, who powered their way to an incredible 250-3 against the wary South Africans on the same pitch.

Bates (124*) combined with Sophie Devine (73) to post a 182-run opening stand – the highest partnership for any wicket in women’s T20 Internationals.

The bowlers then restricted South Africa to 150-6 to secure a 66-run victory and send the WHITE FERNS to the top of the Tri-Series table.
