White Ferns end series with six wicket win

The White Ferns have finished their tour of England on a positive note, beating the current One-Day International world champions by six wickets at Lords but the hosts still won the series 3-2.

Spinner, Erin Bermingham, took her best International figures of four for 35 as England were kept to 176 for nine after winning the toss and electing to bat.

Pace bowlers, Sophie Devine and Nicola Browne, did a tidy job bagging two apiece while new ball bowler, Sian Ruck, conceded just 28 from her 10 overs.

The England seam attack started their defence strongly with the White Ferns quickly reduced to 35 for three before a 109 run partnership between Amy Sattherthwaite and Sara McGlashan took the game away.

Sattherthwaite struck 59 while McGlashan was there at the end on 65 not out as the target was passed with more than three overs to spare.

The win in London ended an evenly matched tour and coach Gary Stead said: “It is a special feeling playing here at Lords and it was important to finish the tour positively.”

“Across both formats it was 4-4 and one series each so the teams are very even. For us that is very pleasing as they are current 50 over champions and a team that won the first ICC World Twenty20.

“They are a very good team and we competed. We are making good gains as a team but still understand we can continue to improve.”
