Top of the Table Wellington Blaze Comfortably Beat Otago Sparks

The Otago Sparks won the toss and elected to bowl in their State League Twenty20 match against the Wellington Blaze at Karori Park.

Wellington managed to make it through to 137 at the end of their allotted overs, with the major contribution coming from Megan Wakefield who scored 61.

Wakefield, fresh from her 120 in the State League match against the Hearts last week was in devestating form hitting seven boundaries before being bowled by the most effective Otago bowler, Lynsey Askew.  Askew finished with the tidy figures of two for 25 off her four overs.

Otago struggled from the outset in reply, being rolled for 68 with the only impression being made by opening batsman Suzie Bates who hit 35 off 38 at the top of the innings.

Lucy Doolan was sharp with ball in hand, taking three for 12 off her four overs but it was Amanda Cooper who had quite astonishing figures of three for none off 2.4 that really impressed.

The Blaze remain unbeaten after three rounds and looking formidable with the Sparks yet to record a win.
