Tight win for the White Ferns over Australia

The White Ferns have beaten Australia by four runs in a thrilling Twenty20 international in Brisbane.

After winning the toss and electing the bat the White Ferns lost captain Aimee Wilkins early for five but then took control with opener Victoria Lind accumulating 20 off 24 and Suzie Bates lashing 38 from 29.

There was little else to shout about as the White Ferns crumbled from 67 for one to be 115 all out in the nineteenth over.

Rene Farrell and Lisa Sthalekar were the pick of the Australian attack taking three for 13 and three for 12 respectively.

Australia paid the price for a cautious start and were in reduced to 15 for four after 5.3 overs before Jodie Fields and Karen Rolton steadied the innings with a 58 run partnership.

The dismissal of Rolton for 36 off 31 turned the match in favour of the White Ferns as they managed to hold their nerve and complete the four run victory.

All of the White Ferns bowlers were tight with debutant Sian Ruck the most successful taking two for 13.
