Satterthwaite brings form home

ROUND SIX

Canterbury Magicians captain Frances Mackay had no hesitation in sending in opposition skipper Nat Dodd after winning the toss on Lincoln Green and the result was a lop-sided nine-wicket win — a much needed boost for the struggling Mags at the business end of the season.

That was despite Dodd and the ever impressive Bernadine Bezuidenhout getting the northerners off to a sound start, 79 for no loss at the halfway mark of their innings before Dodd (below) was caught on 31 the very next ball, off Amy Satterthwaite.

First drop Curtis and Felicity Leydon-Davis departed soon afterwards while Bezuidenhout soldiered on to the 14th over before being trapped by Mackay, Kate Ebrahim finishing with 3-13 as the Mags restricted their opponents to 117 for six.

The chase was too tame for a reinforced side with freshly minted 2018 WBBL Player of the Tournament Amy Satterthwaite opening the batting.

The WHITE FERN slammed her 51 off just 30 balls, leaving Mackay (35* off 37) and Erin Bermingham (28* off 10) to blast the remaining 39 balls for victory with half the innings to get them. As it was, it took just a further three overs.

The victory saw the Magicians climb past the Hinds into third spot on the table.
