Two of The Ford Trophy's leading wicket-takers, Wellington Firebird Adam Milne and Central Stags Ray Toole, were all set to go head-to-head at Fitzherbert Park.
It was a home ground for both men, but untimely drizzle threw a spanner in the works and no play was able to take place.
After splitting the points, the Stags now head back to Pukekura Park for Thurstday's fourth-round clash against the Otago Volts while the Firebirds will host Canterbury at the Cello Basin Reserve, with all games free admission and livestreamed at NZC YouTube.
