Rain thwarted Central Districts as their State Championship cricket match against Wellington petered out to a tame draw today.
Central Districts can feel hard done by after posting an imposing 523 in their only innings despite bad weather robbing the teams of most of the first day's play.
The elements then returned to prevent them picking the two first innings points at stake when Wellington resumed on the fourth and final morning at the Basin Reserve today on 261 for five.
Rain forced the players from the field at regular intervals, with Wellington facing just 40 overs in the entire day, during which time Luke Woodcock registered the fourth half-century of the innings.
Woodcock resumed this morning on 22 and went on to make 59 before George Worker induced an edge to skipper Mathew Sinclair.
Chris Nevin joined Woodcock at the crease this morning but did not last long, although teenager Harry Boam stuck around to make 45 not out on debut, including a six off the last ball of the match.
After taking three wickets in Central Districts' innings, 18-year-old Boam impressed again in helping frustrate the visitors before he ultimately found an unshakeable ally in the weather.
