The fourth one-day cricket international between the West Indies and New Zealand has been washed out at Eden Park -- meaning the series will be decided in Napier on Tuesday, weather permitting.
Originally set 276 for victory after New Zealand made 275 for four, the West Indies' target was amended to 235 from 40 overs after an hour-long rain delay.
The West Indies were 47 without loss after 8.4 overs when the match resumed but only 11 deliveries were possible before the rain returned.
They added 17 runs in that small window, captain Chris Gayle leading the charge as he plundered 46 from 37 balls as the score motored to 64 in 10.3 overs -- well ahead of the Duckworth/Lewis calculation.
However, a prolonged second rain delay ensured no play was possible before the 7.20pm (NZT) cut off time.
Sewnarine Chattergoon was the other not out batsman on 17 from 26 deliveries.
Earlier, Auckland opener Martin Guptill became the fifth player to score a century on his ODI debut when he batted throgh the innings to end of an unbeaten 122 from 135 balls.
Guptill, 22, struck eight boundaries and reached his century with the first of two sixes.
He was well supported by Ross Taylor, who recorded his second consecutive half century in the series with 75 from 87 balls -- including six boundaries and a six.
Guptill and Taylor added 144 for the third wicket, the foundation of the New Zealand innings.
Neil Broom, New Zealand's other debutant, chimed in with 24 from 17 balls at the death as the home side took 93 runs from the final 10 overs.
Fast bowler Lionel Baker, who replaced the injured Jerome Taylor, recorded the best figures of two for 29 from 10 overs, while Australian-born medium pacer Brendan Nash (0-43) also delivered his 10 overs unchanged as the run rate was kept in check in the middle stages.
The series opener in Queenstown was also washed out on New Year's Eve.
The West Indies won the second match in Christchurch by five wickets last Saturday, while New Zealand squared the series in Wellington on Wednesday -- winning by seven wickets.
New Zealand Cricket has confirmed that ticket-holders will be entitled to a refund of the ticket price, from Ticketek outlets.
