Palmerston North Boys’ High School 200/8 (W. na Nagara 42, C. Parker 39, K. Russell 2-29) beat Westlake Boys’ High School 138 all out (R. Doubell 53, J. Lord 4-30, H. Wenham 3-19) by 62 runs.
Palmerston North Boys’ High School and Westlake Boys’ High School met each other on Bert Sutcliffe Oval for their first match of the 2015 Secondary School Boys’ First XI Cup.
Palmerston North Boys’ were sent in to bat, and ended with a competitive score of 200.
Charles Parker got his side of to a good start with 39 runs and the na Nagara brothers batted well together, Whetu scoring 42 runs and Floyd scoring 23.
Westlake Boys’ bowled well throughout the innings to limit Palmerston North Boys, Keegan Russel the pick of the bowlers with 2-29.
Westlake Boys’ lost quick wickets at both ends thanks to some great bowling by Jack Lord, who ended with 4-30. There was some resistance in the Westlake Boys’ middle order, Ryan Doubell scoring 53 runs; but Harry Wenham finished the game with a fine spell of bowling and ended with figures of 3-19.
Palmerston North Boys’ ended with a 62-run win.
