Munro blasts century to level series

Posted Sunday, November 5, 2017 in International News

Opener Colin Munro blasted a century off 54 balls in the second Twenty20 against India, helping the BLACKCAPS to level the series 1-1.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Munro and his opening partner Matin Guptill combined to put on 105 for the first wicket. Munro continued his majestic display of power-hitting, slamming seven sixes enroute to his second Twenty20 century this year.

Defending a total of 196-2, Trent Boult dismissed both India openers early, applying the pressure on the hosts from the outset. Between Boult, Sodhi and Santner, India were always behind the required run-rate and were eventually held to 156-7.

The BLACKCAPS now travel to Thiruvananthapuram for the series decider on Tuesday.
