Hinds cruise to eight wicket win

A 193 run partnership between Rachel Priest and Sara McGlashan guided the Central Hinds to a comfortable eight wicket win in the Women's One-Day competition and allowed them to leap frog top placed team the Wellington Blaze at Kelburn Park in Wellington.

Opener Priest anchored the innings with a measured 82 off 149 with McGlashan the aggressor, belting and unbeaten 95 off 108 as the Hinds cantered home with over five overs to spare.

McGlashan’s superb 91 minute knock included eight boundaries and a six. 

Wellington opening bowler Allex Evans was the best of the line up, taking both wickets to fall and only conceding 25 runs.

Earlier, the Blaze openers got the home team off to a steady start with a 62 run opening stand. 

Lucy Doolan was the first to fall on 33 with opening partner Sarah Bradbury kicking on make 53 by the middle order had not answer to the turn of Kelly Winkley.

The right-arm spinner ripped through the line up to finish with five for 32 off her 10 overs.  Captain Aimee Watkins chimed in with two for 36.

The win elevated the Central Hinds to the top of the leader board with the first and second placed teams meeting again on Saturday (23 January) to decide who will end the round robin section of the competition in first place.
