Hearts seal 12 run win

Samantha Curtis hit her highest 50-over innings to set up the Auckland Heart’s 12 run win over the Canterbury Magicians at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval, Lincoln.

Batting first after winning the toss, Curtis and Victoria Lind put on 67 for the first wicket to help Auckland post a competitive 239 for five.  

Curtis cracked 95 while Lind made a swift 42.  Maddy Green also contributed with a useful 35.

In reply, Canterbury collapsed to be 227 all-out in the 49th over after their top order had them well placed at 129 for one.

Opener Francis Mackay put one a useful opening stand of 57 with Meg Kendal (19) and then combined for a partnership of 72 with captain Amy Satterthwaite a subsequent steady flow of wickets curtailed their run chase.

Mackay was dismissed in the 30th over for 67 while Satterthwaite was out in the 40th for 65 with Rachel Candy’s last onslaught of 26 the only other score of note. |

Lauren Down was Auckland’s stand-out bowler with three for 38, including two wickets in two balls. 
Arlene Kelly and Rachel Cox chipped in with two-apiece.
